Moisture was blown off the boy’s arm as he thrust his fist forward with all his might. Every fibre of the muscles in his arms screamed in protest, then burning sensation pummelling his attention. But it did not deter him as he continued to his battle with an imaginary foe, though if one looked closer they would realise he was moving as if facing multiple foes, his unwilling limbs forced to do his bidding. Lancing and sweeping out with all the power and precision the exhausted teenager could muster. The sweat he’d built up spraying this way and that as he glided through the air with precision.
But eventually he slipped, the three hours of high intensity shadow sparring exhausting not just his body but his mind. All it took was a bead of sweat to find it’s way into his eye, the sudden sting of pain causing him to misjudge his distance from the ground. His heel caught a rock at an awkward angle and suddenly his momentum sent him sprawling across the ground.
For a moment he lay there panting. He had discarded his shirt and jacket before he started his shadow sparring session so he lay there exposed from the waist up, an uncomfortable position given there was a rock digging into his back.
He groaned, “Not… enough…” He tried to pull himself back to his feet but slumped back down as his limbs refused to obey. His mind turning to a day not to long ago. Near here, in the tangled forest. When he met that Saiyan woman and Opherla had done what she did. The power he felt from the wolf-girl. The impression it left and the knowledge that there where people who far surpassed her.
How she used it...
“Have… have to get… stronger…” He breathed from the ground. He had to catch up… He just had to…
Although the mantle was never forced on his, his Grandmother had encouraged him to take up the mantle of protector just as she once had. She hadn’t been given a choice, but she made sure that Liek knew he could refuse it if he wanted. She made sure he knew he could choose a quiet life if he wanted, to live in obscurity and as simply as he pleased. But such a life wouldn’t sit well with Liek, his mixed blood called for something more.
That’s part of why he left the little isolated home that had been all he knew. To find what he yearned for. To find that which gave him purpose. He didn’t care about fame or fortune, but he did like his little slice of the world and wanted to protect it. So he took up his Grandmother’s mantle as protector and set out into the world…
Along the way he met someone, a girl. The first girl he’d felt any kind of attraction to… not that he’d have had the courage to say anything about it… He had such beautiful eyes. He’d had a hard time looking away from them once they’d caught his attention, those wondrous, captivating gold orbs. She’d even professed herself as someone who wanted to keep the planet safe as well…
But then she went and acted like a bully… abusing her powers…
Ever since it had plagued his thoughts, almost every waking moment the fight replayed in his head over and over again. How self-centred and egotistical she had been… and how powerless he had been...

Opherla was searching for the young man that was there when they confronted Salada, the young hybrid that wanted to be like her, until he saw her slip up. Opherla had lost sight of who she truly was during that moment, and it caused her to panic and flee without an explanation or even a "sorry" to the one who's trust and admiration she had broken. Ever since then, Opherla had been an emotional mess of herself, having hid away for a while in hopes of no one ever finding her again. That was, until she got called by a man who was so close to her heart, she couldn't resist his calling. The Saiyan monk, Callion. Opherla had talked to him about her situation, and as she expected, she got scolded by him in disappointment... but while she had that happen, he also encouraged her and guided her. Opherla was going to make things right if she could.
And she was going to start with Liek, knowing that was the best of place as any to start.
The Break Wasteland... a battlefield Opherla hadn't seen much of, though the wide open battlefield it possessed made Opherla wonder if, one day, she perhaps should try to engage in combat here, or even some training here at some point in her training journey. But that would come later. Right now, she had searched all over for Liek and found him here, as she sensed his presence at long last, tuning in on it as she suddenly found the boy lying on the ground, as her eyes widened. Was... he unconscious? ...No, she could see his eyes open upon a closer look. She also saw the twist of emotions that plagued his face as she knew exactly what the source of those emotions were, as she decided... now was probably the time to get started on mending the bonds. Opherla soon slowly descended to the ground, likely a presence Liek didn't want to feel right now, but in Opherla's eyes, she knew she had to do something about what she had done. And she couldn't do that if she didn't help Liek in the here and now.
"Hey. Do you need a hand?" Opherla would kindly ask Liek as she suddenly landed near him, her eyes gazing right into his. Already, Liek could see Opherla's own emotions in her eyes. Of regret, of sorrow for what she had done, of kindness she wanted to show, and of repentance. Gone were the fierce eyes of the bully that Liek saw when they encountered that Saiyan woman, now replaced with gentler eyes that were seeking to apologize and repent for her actions to the young man, and genuinely showed she wanted to help him, perhaps in more ways than one. Her hand, stretched out towards him, a sign of wanting to rebuild a bond she knew she has shattered, but would Liek accept it an listen to her pleas...? Or would he emotionally abuse her more with refusal?
Regardless of if he took her hand or not, Opherla would sigh as she closed her eyes and admitted herself to Liek. "Look... I'm sorry. What you saw back there. What you saw when we confronted that woman... that was uncalled for. I know that. I knew that back there. I know you think the power trip went to my head. In honesty, it did... and I abused my strength... that's not something I should ever do. What I did back there... I can't take those actions back, Liek. All I can do is say I'm sorry and beg for forgiveness, that truthfully, I don't deserve. But even if you can't forgive me... I want you to know that the Opherla you saw back there. That bully, that abuser... she's gone. I'm not going to let her ever come back out again. Instead, I'm going to be what I originally set out to be. A beacon of hope and inspiration... I know it's foolish to ask you to forgive me. All I am asking you, really pleading you for... is to give me another chance. And I'll show you just what kind of person I truly am." Opherla begged Liek, as she hoped he would consider her words, and perhaps find it in his heart to forgive her, as Callion found it in his heart to also do so.

He had sensed her approach, of course. It was kind of hard to miss the blazing sun that was her ki signature getting closer. And he knew it was her because of the way it felt, to Liek each ki signature had a unique ebb and flow, like a thumbprint or signature, and now two where exactly alike. Even then it did feel subtly different, like there had been a change in her. Something he’d sensed before in some animals when they had pair bonded and had offspring, the change from solitary creature to protective parent was tangible within the slight change in how their ki felt.
Without even needing to say anything he knew something had change within her. But what he couldn’t know was what…
A bitter part of him wondered if she had decided to go all in one the bad path after her mask slipped. Pondering whether her coming for him was to finish off the witness to her misdeeds. This bitter part of him was a dark part he tried to ignore, always thinking the worst of things. It had been harder to ignore it since the incident, saying he should consider himself first and foremost and everything else not at all.
Meanwhile the more hopeful side of him wondered if she had faced herself and found her actions to be deplorable. This was the part of him that remembered his Grandmother’s teachings and committed them to heart. In particular in this moment he recalled a conversation he’d had with his Grandmother while reading a fantasy novel she’d given him.
“Do some people really deserve second chances?” he’d asked, at the time only being an eleven year old.
His Grandmother had looked up from her own novel and smiled before answering, “Of course. Everyone deserves a second chance. It’s what they do with that second chance that determines if you should give them a third, dear. Remember what I told you of Cay’luum? He was our foe for the longest time, but joined us in the end and kept his word that he would live in peace once the fighting was done.”
It’s what they do with that second chance that determines if they get a third chance.
He looked at her as she landed, deciding to give her that second chance before she had even opened her mouth. His hand took hers and accepted her help in getting back onto his feet, even though his body was still aching he’d recovered enough to move around again already. A perk of youth perhaps?
The boy listened to her words quietly. It seemed she really had reflected on her actions and determined that what she had done was wrong. That was a good start in itself. She was also reflective enough to know she couldn’t just sweep what she did under a rug and pretend it didn’t happen. More points for her.
Once she was done he closed his eyes, as if pondering what to do, when in reality he was just deliberately letting her wait to mess with her. After a few moments he opened his eyes and quoted his Grandmother, “A Wise Woman once said; Everyone deserves a second chance. It’s what they do with that second chance that determines if you give them a third.”

Opherla knew things were already looking up as Liek took her hand of aid to help him up, as Opherla made sure to steady him as he got up so he didn't fall back dowm. Opherla could now take a closer look at Liek, and she quickly discovered that he wasn't a badly figured young man, in fact, she would consider him pretty athletic given his stature. But that wasn't the focus of things right now. The focus of things was to try and patch up with Liek, and perhaps guide him in the path he ahould take going forward.
Opherla had to wait with baited breath, however, as she watched Liek consider her words carefully. Frankly, regardless if he was messing with her or not, Opherla didn't blame him for taking some time in order to make sure of what he wanted to say. After all, what Opherla did to his admiration of her was inexcusable in itself. He saw her as an idol up until their confrontation with the Saiyan woman, and knowing that fact still made it sting in Opherla's heart about the distrust she had sowed in this young man's heart towards her. In his shoes, Opherla would do exactly the same thing. But she respected his decision to consider his words carefully, before hearing his response that he had on his mind. The fact that everyone deserves a second chance, and what they choose to do with it decides if they get a third. Opherla couldn't be happier to hear that statement from Liek, as already, some of the concerns in her heart melted away with the affirmation, at least she thought, of Liek giving her a second chance that Opherla knew she couldn't squander. Not only was Callion counting on her to change, but now, Liek was, and she needed to make use of this second chance she had been given.
"That woman sounds very wise indeed. I believe in those words deeply." Opherla admitted with a nod of her head. "To those words, I am grateful you are giving me a chance to show you who I truly am compared to what you saw during the encounter with Salada." Opherla promised Liek as she soon brought some things out of her jacket pockets. A couple of water bottles, and a couple granola bars. "Here. I brought water and snacks with me. I thought you might have been training, so I wanted to bring you some nourishment. Training and pushing yourself is good, but you can't strain your body too far past its limits. You do more harm than good that way. I've found that out various times in my journey, including when I sparred with a man way beyond my level, and I got conked completely out after being caught off guard by his attack." Opherla admitted, thinking back to her spar with Athren as she said that. Boy, what a foolish move THAT was back then. She should have KNOWN that Athren's attack would have conked her out, and yet she completely froze and the attack hit her square in her face. What an embarrassing thing to admit! But right now, maybe it would provide Liek a good laugh in sign of Opherla's true good nature that she wanted to show the young hybrid.
"Come on, get replenished and take a breather. I want to start training you. I know you're probably capable of training on your own, but I've found out training alone is pretty hard to do. It's always better if you have someone else to do it with you, even if they're your teacher or master." Opherla explained with a warm smile as she looked at Liek. "What I mean is, I want to train you. To guide you. To make sure you don't do stupid mistakes like I've done in the past, including what you saw most recently. Let me help you grow, so that we can both grow together. Earth needs protectors, Liek. People like you and I. People who will learn from their wrongs and strive to make those wrongs right. People who aren't afraid to admit their weaknesses to each other, so that in the end, they can stand with others and unite against anything that stands in their way." Opherla said, as she truly hoped the next phase of making up to Liek would come out just fine. She wanted to make sure Liek was going the right direction on his path forward, for his training and his future both. Opherla wanted to expand on the potential that Liek was showing, just as Callion told Opherla she had her own potential to expand upon. Opherla could focus on herself later, for right now, she wanted to focus on Liek, and making him become stronger.

Liek hadn’t been sure what he’d been expecting from Opherla after he had given her a second chance, but the offerings of food and water where appreciated. He accepted and water bottle and bar and opened them before eating hungrily, but not without care. After all eating too quickly would only lead to him choking, which would be monumentally stupid. He was equally measured when drinking, taking only half mouthfuls so his dry throat wouldn’t seize up when trying to swallow and lead to choking from the liquid.
“You said that before, that there are people way stronger then either of us.” Liek commented, “I have to push harder then anyone to catch up.” His thoughts drifted to the myriad people in the world, many he only knew of in the most barest of sense of the word, knowing that they exist on only the most basic level. Innocent men, women and children who want only to live in peace even as titans clash all around them. People who could unwilling and unwittingly be drawn into conflicts that have nothing to do with them. “If I don’t catch up… what good would I be? I wouldn’t be able to help anyone…”
Training? He hadn’t been expecting her to offer something like that. It’s not like their alliance was as tightly bonded as his Grandmother’s group had been, they’d been brought together by need and trained together because it was the only path forward for them if they wanted to live in peace. Opherla didn’t have that kind of commitment driving her to him, she could have easily just asked for forgiveness and moved on, leaving him to train on his own.
Not that he would have blamed her. He was so weak compared to her, he probably looked like he’d slow her down and delay her own progress. Most people would just blow him off and leave him to struggle on his own.
“You want to help me train?” He questioned with genuine surprise. Blue eyes turned to look into the golden orbs of the wolf-girl, “You’re actually serious?” He pondered a moment before replying, “I’m not sure I need guidance so much as you do, Opherla. But I won’t turn down an offer to help me get stronger.” The offer was sincerely appreciated but the younger teen couldn’t help but note her offer happened to include a little bit of backsliding on the assumed superiority she was trying to make up for.
He knew it was an accident on her part, but still. It didn’t take her long to act high and mighty, even if she did word it in a more humble way then her approach to Salada.
“Don’t make me start bringing a spray bottle and spritz you every time to act up.” he warned with a smirk.

"I did say that, yes." Opherla replied to Liek's comment about there being others stronger than them. She heard him talk about pushing himself so far that he could catch up... catching up was definitely something they both had to do. Opherla was closer than Liek was, but what kind of protector would she be if she didn't help Liek to at least have a fighting chance out there? To be able to at least combine his strength with Opherla so that the two of them together might just have a chance at beating some of the big bads that could be out there? Sure, Liari and those among her level of power were of no question going to be impossible for the two of them to overcome on their own. But for other, less strong options, there was a chance, if they trained right and proper, that they could face those evils head on as one.
"Even though I said that, you can't just break yourself in order to get stronger. I learned that the hard way training myself in the past five months. I learned there that pushing yourself is fine, but if your body breaks on you while you're striving, what good does that do for you in the long run? In the end, you cause more damage than you do good in getting stronger because your own injuries hold you back from continuing on. You have to know your limits, so you don't snap in half on your road to becoming stronger, Liek." Opherla told him in an honest tone as she watched him eat and drink carefully to replenish himself. She was concerned now. Did she push Liek to start training himself to these dangerous limits? She didn't mean for that at all. But of course, she didn't mean to go into kill mode on Salada either. This was one of the many repercussions Opherla knew she likely had to face in the coming days after the fight with Salada... but for now, she had to steer Liek off this dangerous road, or he was going to literally kill himself trying to train hard enough to get caught up with everyone else. Opherla found out that doesn't work, now she had to pass that on to Liek.
She was overcome with relief, however, as Liek accepted her offer to train with him. While he noted that she likely needed a bit more guidance than she did, the fact he was willing to train with her was more than enough, as she smiled at his bewilderment he showed at first and chuckled softly. "I'm very serious, Liek. You need someone to train with and I'm more than happy to fit the bill, yes, I'm young and inexperienced too, but, there are things I can show you that I've learned from many different people that I think can help you on your journey. But I'm willing to learn more, and learn with you. Together, we can reach new boundaries of strength and knowledge that we couldn't reach on our own. We can soar to new heights that we couldn't ever dream of, taking on this journey by ourselves. That's why I want to train with you, that's why I want to try and right my wrongs by helping you get stronger." Opherla said with a genuine smile.
However, Liek suddenly made mention of a spray bottle, likely in the way of trying to tone down Opherla's superiority complex she was subtly, and not intentionally, showing, as her eyes widened. Him? Spritz her with water? Like she was a cat!? That was a bit insulting. But Opherla knew he didn't mean it in that way, and so, she could only laugh at his warning, as she showed genuine laughter after she didn't know how long of not having laughed so hard in her life.
"Oh, no, don't hit me with... water!" Opherla laughed as she heard this from Liek, joking along with him as she had a good laugh for quite a while. "Okay, that was good, and a bit deserved if I'm honest." Opherla remarked, regarding how humbling it was to be threatened by a mere water sprayer as she smiled at Liek. "In all seriousness though, please, I'm not offering to give you some guidance because I think I'm above you. To be honest, I think you're above me, actually, considering how you approached what happened with Salada, while I let my emotions get the better of me. I just want to show you some things I've learned from others who have helped me to get where I am, and pass those lessons and techniques, and maybe some techniques of my own, on to you, Liek. Will you let me do that? Not as your superior... but as your friend, or your training partner?" Opherla would ask with a soft smile as her golden eyes showed a sense of camraderie and kindness to Liek in this moment of good heartedness they had just shared together, with Opherla hoping that things would be much better between her and Liek from here on out.

He doubted that Opherla could really relate to what was driving him to such extremes even if he tried to explain it to her. She understood that he wanted to protect the world, which was a start, but how could he explain just how big of a part of himself living up to that expectation was? The only family he’d ever known was his Grandmother, and she’d dedicated decades of her life defending the Earth, even if the only major conflict she, and the rest of her group, lasted less then a year. She and the others had so much taken from them in that conflict and still found the strength to keep working to keep the planet safe.
And it wasn’t just that, the Furiemshinken was a legacy all it’s own. Tens of thousands of years of history and refinement, blood, sweat and sacrifice by countless masters and practitioners, all spent refining the fighting style. Then further refining it to work with their energy materialisation technology. Then for the J Numbers, Liek’s Grandmother and friends, to refine it further and allow the use of ki. Generations of work… and Liek was the last living user of the style.
He took great pride in both legacies.
Maybe it was that pride, more then anything, that drove him to such lengths. But the idea of Furiemshinken being looked down on as weak and inferior to other styles really irked the boy. Granted, no one had done so, but just the idea that someone could rubbed him the wrong way.
But… maybe he could try and explain it?
“I can’t ease up. I’m the only one alive who knows Furiemshinken. I can’t have it, the last vestige of a noble people, get dismissed as weak and disappear to history just because I’m weak right now.” He explained softly, “And of course, protecting everyone of Earth is important too. Because that’s what I want to do… and because that’s what Grandma did.”
He looked her in the eye and smiled, “I do want to train with you, Opherla.” He chuckled softly, “Honestly, I think training with someone would be better then what I was doing…. This…” He gestured to the wasteland, though clearly meaning the training he had just been doing, “Doesn’t feel like I’ve managed as much progress on my own then I ever did with Grandma in a single session.”
After a slight pause he then added, “Besides, it’s a bit hard to see when you’re leaving openings when you train on your own. Better to have someone around to point out sloppy mistakes before they become bad habits.”
The boy smiled as she laughed, though he decided against telling her he was actually completely serious and was actually going to go and buy a bottle as soon as he got the chance. He listened intently as the wolf-girl explained how she wanted to help him and affirming her intent to do so as an equal. This was something Liek was all to happy hear and his smile broadened at her words, “If that’s the case, then I’ll say it again; I want to train with you to Opherla. As a friend and training partner.” With the words spoken he held out his fist in the age old offering of a fist bump.

What was once confusion and concern over Liek pushing himself so hard now turned into empathy and understanding as Liek explained why he felt the need that he HAD to become stronger. Opherla now understood clearly. He wanted to get stronger because he was the only one carrying a legacy of a fighting style, the only one left using a technique set passed down through the ages and now was resting on his very shoulders. Opherla honestly DID relate to that, though maybe not as sentimental as Liek's situation, it was quite similar. She had made her own style of fighting to battle her foes with, a martial arts she had dubbed Lycanshoto arts. So hearing Liek's story about being the only one wielding the Furiemshinken made Opherla understand WHY he was pushing himself to his literal breaking points now. Because he didn't want the legacy of his family martial arts to die out, and with that knowledge, Opherla now knew how to approach him in regards to his training.
"Being the sole user of a martial arts form is a hard path to live on. I know, because I'm in that position myself." Opherla told Liek. "I created my own style, out of a need to make my own unique martial arts that combines my fighting ability with my natural abilities. I call it Lycanshoto, and I hope that as I get stronger, I can pass it on to people so that they also can learn the arts for themselves. I now understand that's also why you want to push yourself, because you want to have this passed on to others. But you can't break yourself now. Breaking yourself while training still gives a bad rep to your martial arts style. It will make people think that you're way of training is too difficult for anyone to pick up, and they won't want to learn about the form you use. It's important to have a balance of limit pushing, and restraint to know when to have breaks, in order to effectively train and become stronger." Opherla declared. "I don't think your Grandmother wanted you to break yourself trying to become stronger than you are. I'm certain she knew that she couldn't push herself more than she had to in her own training, after all."
Getting off that topic, Opherla smiled as Liek genuinely showed that he wanted to train with her, as he gestured to the Wasteland, showing his solo path hadn't amounted to much. Opherla truly understood that, but then thought to herself... how did she get this far on her own? It wasn't truly on her own, actually, it started with friends, but the last five months had actually boosted her some. What did she have boosting her forward that Liek didn't have...? It didn't take her long to figure that out, as she looked down in thought, then saw her own jacket. Of course. The equipment she was using was different than Liek's. She had on weighted clothing. She had a Gravitron. She still had help in the training equipment she was using, as opposed to Liek having.... well, actually nothing! Opherla didn't see a single article of weighted clothing on his body! That was going to have to be in order for this young man. Opherla had gotten hers early on thanks to Athren, now it was her turn to provide for someone else on the road to getting stronger.
Liek then offered his fist up for a fist bump, as if it was a sign of their training journey with one another being forged in this one shared bumping of their fists together. Opherla couldn't turn down a good ol' friendly fist bump, as she made sure not to use any of her strength with it, for fear of breaking Liek's hand, as she gently bumped fists with the other hybrid, smiling as she was happy to hear of Liek wanting to train with her.
"I'm glad to hear that you're wanting to train with me, Liek. If you're going to do that though, there's a couple of things you'll need to help you out. To start, you'll neednto get yourself some weighted clothes, like what I'm wearing right now." Opherla stated as she showed off her jacket. "Don't worry, I'll head to a nearby town and pick some up for you if you want me to. What's great about these clothes is that they actually suppress your power level a bit just by wearing them, and you're basically training just by walking around and doing stuff with them on. The heaviest set, like this one I'm wearing now, is what you want to go for." Opherla offered. "On top of that, if you have the money for it, I'd recommend getting you something that you can place a room known as a Gravitron inside. Training at gravity levels higher than Earth's gravity also really helps you get stronger in a better way. I don't think you're strong enough to handle times ten Gravity right now, but when you get a little bit stronger, come and find me, and I'll show you the ropes in training in gravity that's higher than Earth's gravity." Opherla genuinely offered the young hybrid with a smile, already giving him some tips for more effective training equipment he could get to help him get stronger at a faster pace.

Being the sole inheritor of a heritage was a little different from inventing your own style. Your own style was more personal and insults to it would cut deep, but inheriting a heritage was a heavier burden by far, since the weight of every person who ever contributed to it before you rest on your shoulders. But… at least Opherla seemed to get the point he was making and how important it was to him. She did make a good though, if any potential students would mistake the training he was putting himself through with what he’d expect of them it would discourage all but the most eccentric or masochistic.
And that was a level of weirdness Liek did not think he was ready to deal with…
He hadn’t really gotten to see her style in action before and his curiosity was piqued, what did the form look like, what where the natural abilities it integrated and how did it integrate them? “I’m looking forward to training more now, I want to see this style of yours in action. Hopefully I can get a few more of my moves down so you can see what Furiemshinken is all about too.” He stated with an excited grin forming on his face.
Weighted clothing was actually an entirely new concept to Liek and caught the youth off guard. In fact the idea of weight slowing down a warrior wasn’t something Liek had ever considered, whether in training or actual battle. This seeming lapse in consideration of a seemingly obvious concept relates back to the stories his Grandmother told of the Fury; although the Fury couldn’t use ki and relied on technology to provide the orgone energy they could manipulate like other lifeforms manipulated ki, the armour they wore, which housed the technology, didn’t weight anything when in use thanks to part of the technology using orgone to nullify the weight. Even in full plate they could fight as if entirely unarmoured.
The idea of a room that could alter gravity was also an entirely new concept. Most people would think knightly warriors flying around in advanced full plate, like the Fury where, and forming weapons out of crystallised energy to entirely outlandish and it would never cross their minds. To Liek, the Fury and their armour was just a fact of life. Gravity altering training rooms? Hold the damn phone. How was that even possible?
...Not that he was going to ask Opherla for the details on that one. Somehow he doubted she’d have much more of an idea about that then he would.
“I’ve not heard of either of those before.” The younger teen admitted, “I don’t think Grandma was familiar with them either since I know she and her friends never used them.” He knew the old timers where pretty strong, stronger then Opherla. But one question he could never get a straight answer about from his Grandmother was exactly how they got as strong as they where. For some reason she would always blush and evade the question...
“I could probably remodel Grandma’s old house. Most of the rooms where for when her friends would visit when they where alive, and that was back before I came into her life.” He rubbed his chin and added, “Easy enough to expand if needed too. Hmm… but the whole place is old and could do with repairs...”
There was one slight problem though, looking sheepish the boy rubbed the back of his head and noted, “But I really don’t have anywhere near the kind of money I’d need for any of that right now.” It was clear, however, that he was grateful for help being offered to him.

Opherla smiled as she heard him talk about showing him more of what Furiemshinken could do. Opherla was more than excited to see that. She wanted to see what Liek had to offer in his style of fighting as well as what potential the fighting style had if he got strong enough to use it on a regular basis. Ever since Liek told Opherla about his style of fighting, Opherla was now incredibly eager to see it, to watch it, and to see just what Liek had in mind for it regarding techniques and such as he went forward in his training journey.
"I'm excited to see just what Furiemshinken can do, Liek." Opherla honestly stated as she smiled at the young hybrid. "If it's as awesome as you're painting it to be, then I would be elated, and more importantly honored, to see what a noble style like that can do. I have faith you'll master it well, and that you'll be able to protect many people with it in the future." Opherla encouraged Liek with a reassuring smile as well.
Then Liek seemed to be confused when Opherla talked about the weighted clothes and Gravitron tech that she herself was using to help bolster her own training, as Opherla was unsure if she could help Liek properly understand just what they did. As a matter of fact, Opherla didn't quite know herself, as Liek deduced, just HOW these things helped her to become stronger. She just thought the extra challenge might be a good way to help her training, and that's why she invested into these things. The jacket given to her by Athren had helped her grow quite a bit over the years, and the Gravitron in her Space Pod was more than worth the investment, especially the upgrades to keep it up with her own power. Speaking of that, she was about due for an upgrade for it... Agh! Off track, off track. Focus on Liek, not yourself.
However, it suddenly hit Opherla as to why she kept the weighted clothes and got the Gravitron, and it was revealed to her in her latest train of thought: Extra challenge. Sure, training in the natural elements wasn't a bad method to train by any means, but it could only provide so much to the pursuit of getting stronger. When training under heavier weights and heavier gravity, the abilities you could perform when those elements became removed would become so much easier to accomplish than the training that was done within those two facets of extra burdened training! Opherla could explain it clearly now!
"I can see you're a bit confused and maybe even apprehensive of the idea of training under heavier weights and higher gravity." Opherla began her explanation of how Weighted Clothes and the Gravitron worked. "And I understand you may not have the money for those things right now. But I'm more than happy to help you get started on that. I can buy you some weighted clothes and give those to you next time we meet, that's no big deal, and ehm... I think you'll need something a bit more than your grandmother's house for the Gravitron. Not to shoot you down on that thought, but the thing is, I had to actually buy myself a Space Pod in order to have something that was technological enough and, more importantly, strong enough to handle installing a room that would increase the amount of gravity I train in. Anyways, back to the point of why I use those, think of it like this, Liek. You can train as much as you want in normal conditions, but you'd only be acclimated to Earth and its Gravity, instead of being acclimated under harsher conditions. This is where the weighted clothes and Gravitron come in. Training under all that extra wwight will help you perform even better in the normal conditions of this planet. I'm sure you've sensed my energy, but the weighted clothes I'm wearing suppresses what I can actually do." Opherla smiled as she soon removed her jacket, revealing her slightly bulky arms, but not that bulky as to ruin her figure, as suddenly, Liek felt her power much more clearer now, as it was completely quadrupled what he sensed of her when she had those clothes on! Regardless of his reaction, Opherla knew he had to FEEL the power coming off her now, as she softly smiled.
"Don't go getting any ideas, I'm just demonstrating." Opherla would say, knowing Liek could easily make another stab at her superiority complex by her doing this. "I'm just showing you what the weighted clothes and Gravitron can do for you in the long run. It's simply putting yourself in harsher conditions that your body, eventually, will get used to, to the point it won't even bother you anymore." Opherla explained, as she soon put her weighted jacket back on. "I would give you this one, but it has some sentimental value to me, something I know you understand. If you're really serious about this training, you actually NEED clothes like this if you're gonna get far, Liek. I'll buy you a set if you're interested, I can afford it. I'll even pitch in and help you when you want to get a Gravitron of your own. In the meantime, I'll let you use mine when you think you're ready to start training in it." Opherla stated as she smirked.
"As your friend, and your partner, I want you to be serious about getting stronger using every asset you have available to you. In other words, I wanna take what you're doing now and elevate it to the next level." Opherla said as she almost held a challenge look in her eyes as she folded her arms at Liek. "I know we can become stronger together, Liek. You and I. Whaddya say, are you ready to take your training to the next level? Are you ready to become strong so you can accomplish the things you aim to do in this life? I'm sure you know this, there's a long road ahead of you, Liek. I'm willing to travel it with you, and better you however I can. If we're gonna be partners, we both gotta be all in with this. So are you all in?" Opherla asked as she held out her hand for a firm, almost sibling like handshake you would see brothers or close friends do to one another. While they already had made a promise to train with one another, Opherla knew Liek wanted to push his limits. And she knew exactly how he could do that. All she needed to know is if he was dead serious on taking the plunge into getting stronger, so that the Furiemshinken style martial arts could be looked up to as a noble and powerful fighting style!

As it stood, while Liek technically knew all that the Furiemshinken, his inability to master key techniques left him unable to actually use more then 1% of the ability. If her could just master Materialsation the lion’s share of abilities would become available to him. It would take some time, but hopefully with training and dedication he would overcome the hurdles he was facing and be able to show Opherla what the Furiemshinken could be.
And as much as he wanted to one day take on students and pass on the style to a new generation, he realised he didn’t actually care about showing it off to anyone else. He knew he would have to in order to act as a kind of advertisement to draw in future students, but he didn’t care for admiration or fame. Thinking about, being famous would probably only attract the kinds of students that only cared about getting a slice of that fame pie for themselves.
A part of him hoped that once Opherla saw what the Furiemshinken was really like she would be interested in learning even a little bit of it. Not that the boy had the courage to even make the suggestion at the moment. She hadn’t even seen him really do anything, let alone fight or use a technique.
Though he was confident if he mastered Materialisation she’d love that.
Despite all that running through his mind the only response the boy could think to give the girl’s words of encouragement was a grateful nod and a shy smirk.
An added challenge was always good thing, so long as it wasn’t unreasonable. A lot of his earliest training had been his grandmother issuing difficult, but not overly so, challenges. Typically in the form of some kind of race or betting he couldn’t do something with an enticing reward if he managed to do it. It sounded like the weights and gravity rooms where just an extension of that idea, but applying them to regular training. It made a good amount of sense and Liek was definitely feeling up for it.
He wasn’t as convinced as she was that he needed a ship to install it in though. But that was something for him to look into in the future.
The sheer wave of power that came rolling off of Opherla when she removed the jacket just about bowled the poor boy over. It was almost as intense as the power she was outputting in her transformed state during the Salada incident! It still had the same sensation on his senses, the same identifying thumbprint, but there was just so much more of it. Thankfully she had the sense to reassure him that she wasn’t doing this to show off, just show what could be his with her help. Though, really, he wasn’t sure if she was speaking the reassurance for his benefit or her own.
At the mention of the jacket being sentimental to her he nodded in understanding. He wasn’t going to pry into how it was sentimental, if she ever wanted to tell him she could do so when she wanted to. And Liek wasn’t really sure he wanted to know just yet either, he was still a little emotionally unstable after having his faith in her shaken and his budding crush on her taking a serious hit. He still found her attractive, but he wasn’t sure if harbouring those feelings was a good idea for himself right now.
“I think… if we work together we can make a world where people can live in peace. Where we don’t have to pick and choose who to save to make that happen.” He looked her in the eye with a passion in his eyes, “And I’m willing to work hard to do it. I don’t care how hard the road is, I will conquer it!” He took her hand and affirmed, “And if we walk it together then it will just that more fulfilling!”

Opherla could only smile widely as Liek took her hand, a strong sense of camraderie and confidence binding the two of them together in this moment as Opherla could tell Liek was more than ready to pursue a higher power alongside her, which Opherla was more than excited for, especially considering how much potential she saw in Liek. Opherla was right from the get go, Liek had a bright future ahead of him and he was going to be going far in his journey, especially now that he was ready to take his training up to the next level with Opherla. She laughed in triumph and goodwill as she let go of Liek's hand after a good while.
"Alright! Looks like I got some shopping I need to go do! I'll let you finish your training routine for the day if you have anything left planned." Opherla told Liek with a genuine smile as she couldn't contain her excitement in the moment. "Whenever you're ready to get started with the next steps for your training, come find me. My home is in West City, and it's not hard to find me. Not too many two story homes have a literal space pod next to them after all. I look forward to what heights we can accomplish together on this journey, Liek." Opherla spoke with an honest smile. While the power difference made Opherla feel like a master to Liek, she had to set that feeling aside. Liek and her were of similar ages, so it wasn't a master student relationship. Not in the least. It was a relationship between friends, partners who wanted to become stronger, and become stronger together. Opherla was more than ready to help Liek with this, and, hopefully, rekindle his admiration for her fully after her slip up.
Opherla soon turned around to get a safe distance from Liek to fly away, as she held her smile of confidence and camraderie she had with Liek in this moment, as she soon stopped, feeling a gentle breeze blowing over the landscape as she took it in with a deep breath, and exhaled it. "The winds... do you believe they tell stories, Liek? As they blow by? I do... and the wind just now... it's only starting to blow. Those winds are intending to tell our story, I think. But I could be wrong. Maybe I'm just speaking out of my emotions instead of being rational right now but... I can't help but... to say thank you."
Opherla turned to Liek as she said this, a look of vulnerability shown in her smile as her eyes portrayed a sign of resignation and apology. "I really was a mess up back there. I really should have handled that so much better. Watching your thoughts of me change like that... I won't lie, it... hurt. It was masked back then by the panic but... it truly did hurt. I can't tell you how much I wondered if you would hate me forever for what I did, if I never would have earned your forgiveness... but after Callion met with me in Korin's Forest... I knew I had to at least try to mend the damage." Opherla said as her smile grew less, more vulnerable as she kept speaking. "So Liek... I want to say thank you. Thank you for giving me a second chance to show you who I really am, Liek. I promise I won't squander this chance."
Opherla then gave Liek a thumbs up, her full smile returning. "Let's go and make our future bright. Together!" Opherla said before she took to the skies, a smile on her face as she flew home, knowing, even if she didn't fix things fully, things between her and Liek were much better. And right now? That's all she could ask for.

The boy smiled and waved as he watched her leave.
He was sure he wouldn’t have to wait too long to begin the next steps of his training with Opherla so it was only a matter of time before he sought her out in West City. It would be his first time venturing out that far, but with her energy acting as a beacon he was sure he’d find his way easily enough.
The winds tell stories, huh? Well if that wasn’t a sign then Liek didn’t know what else could be…
The Fury had two Gods in their mythology. Volda, God of Darkness, Warriors and the Afterlife. And Basirius, God of Light, Wind and Life. Both of these figures served as inspiration for the Furiemshinken, thus the translation of Fury God Fist. The Gods where not in conflict, despite their differing natures, and worked side by side to guide the Fury in the formation of their culture and society and where eventually revered as examples of how all Fury should conduct themselves.
Basirius was of particular note right now since his legends often told of the Great Dragon speaking to Fury through stories carried on the wind. As the more ‘hands off’ of the two he typically only intervened indirectly through his wind stories, sparking inspiration in those who needed it, driving them towards where they belonged. It was said some could hear Basirius’ whispers more clearly then others.
Perhaps Opherla was one such lucky soul?
It brought a smile to the young teen’s face. If Basirius was blessing them with stories then that could only mean great things where coming their way.
As he pondered her heartfelt words of thanks for forgiving her he could only smile a little. Giving people a second chance is the right thing to do, especially if they show real remorse. The second chance can give them the moral strength actually change and never make the same mistake again. Denying that chance… it could fuel a despair that makes them worse. Now Liek was more then certain he’d made the right choice and now he could help ensure she stayed on the right path.
It also gave him and idea for what to do to finish of his training for the day.
Looking up he turned his gaze at an empty part of the sky and with his imagination he filled it with a figure. Not just any figure, the figure of someone who had been granted a second chance by the J Numbers and became their stalwart and noble ally for the rest of their lives. The figure was clad from head to two in very advanced plate armour, from under the helmet, the only part of the armour that was open, a face could be seen. The face of a stern man with red markings on his forehead and cheeks. The armour was black and was both slender and angular with large pauldrons. In the left hand was a thin but long diamond shaped shield and in the right hand was a weapon only a few Fury ever got to wield; an orgone sword rifle, able to switch between both modes as the user needed.
Cay’luum, Knight of the Fury.
With a grin Liek gathered what strength he had and launched himself at his imagined sparring partner.
